As a distinguished personality George Papanicolaou, inspired a lot of Greek directors and journalists, who recounted his life through particular interesting documentaries, which were released in the Greek television.
Firstly, journalist George Petritsis in his tv programme “ Testimonies” of the Greek Radio TV (ERT), showed a chronicle of life of G. Papanicolaou, titled: “GEORGIOS PAPANICOLAOU – a life dedicated to mankind”.

In 1993, the journalist Nestoras Matsas, directed the documentary: “As long as light exists”, that was released in the Greek Radio TV ERT. Further to this documentary, he pointed out that: “Greeks are inspired by the light which unfolds and is diffused to every corner and create masterpieces through the cleanliness of landscape, history and culture.
“As long as light exists ”, the Greek soul will translate the light to art, creation, spirituality and beauty. The episode “GEORGE PAPANICOLAOU” presents the unselfish and modest personality of the famous Researcher and Scientist George Papanicolaou, to whom millions of women owe their life.

Α documentary of special artistic value on the famous Greek doctor, was created in 2008 by the film director and poet Lefteris Xanthopoulos. This documentary titled “George Papanicolaou – Pap Test” , was released by the Greek Radio TV (ERT) the same year, as part of the series “Backstage”.
“The director characterizes Dr George Papanicolaou as a leading personality of World Medicine and founder of the speciality of cytology, who is considered the benefactor of millions of women in the entire world”,

On behalf of SKAI TV and the series “Famous Greeks”, film director Lena Boudouri, released in 2009 the documentary titled: “George Papanicolaou”.
“I believe that George Papanicolaou has been important for his enormous contribution to the diagnosis of cervical cancer. The test Pap is an examination that any woman must undergo regardless her fianancial situation. This fact contributes to the equality of social layers.
Dr Pap was a important personality, who lost the Nobel Prize eventhough he surely deserved it”, added the journalist Maria Choukli who also presented the documentary.

In 201,1 the NET ΤV Show “20th century-options”, made a small comprehensive tribute to Dr Papanicolaou.

In the anniversary of the 50 years from the death of G. Papanicolaou, the active Greek Institution of Culture created a concise and qualitative short film. This film was released in the annexes of the Institution abroad, while at the same time the photographic exhibition “George Papanicolaou: A pioneer of medical research”, was presented there.

Also, in the 50 years from the death of the famous scientist, the TV Show “Time Machine ” shed light on unknown aspects of his life and his childhood in Kymi. The show focused in his passion for perfection and his decision to leave for America, where in the beginning he made a living as a fiddler and a carpet salesman. Papanicolaou was solely focused in scientific research and for this purpose he was ready to sacrifice every personal enjoyment.

On April 24th 2017, the Cosmote-pay TV- “OTE HISTORY” channel, created and released in the series: “Those who dared” , a new documentary dedicated to George Papanicolaou. The film was directed by Anies Sklavou.
“Even if they are unknown to the most of us, these eminent and unprecedented Greeks remained steadfast and distinguished themselves supporting their convictions and vision up to the end, in spite of the difficulties they faced even by their own families, said the poet and director Lefteris Xanthopoulos, inspirator of the series “Those who dared”, who also signed its artistic direction.
